Ch. 1: Who knows what PR is????

I think people only see public relations as a visual source of publicity but throughout this chapter we read that Public relations has many categories and techniques.

Definitions common terms: Deliberate, planned, performance, public interest, two-way communication, and strategic management function.

—-We need to build and maintain beneficial relationships.( these are always a positive step in public relations and help us go forward.)

——Public relations is more than persuasion, we should have open communication between one another.

——public relations is organized, intentional, policy driven, and be beneficial to the public and the organization.

Public Relations is a Process: RACE…the acronym 🙂

This process helps public relations staff work on a project and eventually in the end create a whole new project to journey to. Public relations can be a never-ending cycle that asses a program and creates new ones.

Research—-what is the problem or situation?

Action—- program planning, what is the action that is going to be done?

Communication–execution, how will the public be told?

Evaluation—-was the audience reached and what was the effect?

Another way to look at this process is the 6 step cycle…

6 Step Cycle:

Step 1: research and analysis

Step 2: Policy Formulation

Step 3: Programming

Step 4: Communication

Step 5: Feedback
