Public relations professionals should be fully aware of the terms “libel” and “slander”

Libel: printed falsehood

Slander: false oral statement

Copyright means protection of a creative work from unauthorized use.

The copyright law makes it clear that freelance and commercial photographs retain ownership of their work.

Government documents are in the public domain and cannot be copyrighted. Includes;

  • City
  • County
  • State
  • Federal
